Safety Testing – Electric Blankets and Small Portable Heaters
This year the Public Protection Partnership with support from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service are offering free of charge safety testing of electric blankets and small portable heaters in West Berkshire.

When did you last have your portable heater PAT tested?
Each year there are about 1000 fires caused by faulty electric blankets. Around 20 people are killed and 250 injured in these fires.
This year the Public Protection Partnership with support from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service are offering free of charge safety testing of electric blankets and small portable heaters in West Berkshire. The date, times and venues are as follows:
Monday 28th October 2024 – 9:30 – 15:30
Hungerford Fire Station, Church Street, Hungerford RG17 0JG
Tuesday 29th October 2024 – 9:30 – 15:30
Newbury Fire Station, Hawthorn Road, Newbury, RG14 1LD
Wednesday 30th October 2024 -9:30 – 15:30
Thatcham Community Larder, Frank Hutchings Community Centre, Bradley Moore Square, Thatcham, RG18 4QH
No booking is required, however please note, as we will be operating a drop in service you may be required to wait to have your item/s checked.
